Established in Los Angeles more than 18 years ago by veteran search consultant Joseph A. McCormack, McCormack & Associates is a national provider of specialized executive search services and among the first national search practices to specialize in diversity recruiting. McCormack & Associates conducts searches for senior executives and board members for not-for-profit organizations with a focus on healthcare, social services, and social justice, and on behalf of for-profit corporations committed to diversity in the workplace.
In 1993, McCormack & Associates was founded to recruit senior leadership for the many AIDS research, advocacy & human services organizations growing exponentially in response to the nationwide pandemic. Often run by volunteers, these organizations were beginning to receive substantial government and private sector funding. All needed top-flight professionals in key management positions, and McCormack & Associates was retained to fill over 100 such positions in its first five years of business.
From the very beginning, diversity recruiting was high on the firm’s agenda, as its clients demanded and expected this kind of leadership to reflect the populations it served by:
